Real REFORM of Congress can happen when it is done in small doses. That is the goal and STRATEGY of CommonSenseForCongress.org . This is a grassroots project that wants to tackle two issues for the 2010 election:

1) post all bills on a congressional web site, for ALL to read, for approximately one week before it can be brought for a vote. The average American will be able to call their Congressman and Senators to voice an opinion.

2) one bill = one issue. No add-ons, earmarks, or pork spending to any bills.

In 2011 we will choose new issues that need reformed for the 2012 election.

Looking For A Conduit

There are groups all over the country coming together to get their voices heard. In the past year people have come together to elect and inaugurate a new president, groups are also banding together to participate in modern day Tea Parties, and just yesterday thousands of people met together all over the country in family rooms to ballrooms to watch the Glenn Beck Special, "We Surround Them", and learn about "The912Project.com".

People are beginning to pay attention to what is going on around them, what the U.S. Government is doing, and what the average American can do to effect change. The best way to have an effect on our government, whether it is a good or bad effect, is by bringing people together at the ballot box.

www.CommonSenseForCongress.org is the conduit to bring people together to effect congress in a good way. We must make sure all candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate from all districts/states are aware and have the opportunity to run under the Common Sense For Congress banner by taking the pledge.

Our Government should work for us, not the other way around!

Let The Tea Parties Begin

How can the people taking part in the 2009 Stimulus Bill Tea Parties in San Diego, St. Louis, and Tampa (any place in the country) ban together to accomplish the same goal?

And what is the goal?

CommonSenseForCongress.org has the answer to both these questions!

The goal is simple and easy to understand:
Americans should vote for Congress people that believe they should read a bill before they vote on it and that it should be posted to a Congressional web site for two weeks before it can come before Congress for a vote. Additionally, each bill should cover one topic with no earmarks or pork allowed to be added.

Tea Party participants should encourage their 2010 candidate for the House and Senate to take the Common Sense pledge and run under the CommonSenseForCongress.org banner. For that matter, all groups working for reform of the U.S. Government, should also ban together using CommonSenseForCongress.org as the catalyst for real reform.

CommonSenseForCongress.org will use real and easily understood issues to reform congress. We will contact, or can be contacted by, any candidate for Congress to take the Common Sense pledge. We will track and publish on CommonSenseForCongress.org every candidate that will be running for a House or Senate seat and let the American voter know who took the pledge and who did not.

CommonSenseForCongress.org will promote and build awareness about this grassroots effort but will not campaign for any individual candidate. We will use most forms of new media and some forms of old media to get voters involved early in the process and get out the vote in the primary elections. The ultimate goal would be having every candidate, from all parties take the pledge.

Our goal is simple and easily attainable:

• Vote for Congressmen that believe they should read all bills from beginning to end before they vote on it and vote out Congressmen who voted for the 2009 Stimulus Bill, since they obviously voted for it without READING the entire bill.
• Anyone running for Congress in 2010 is welcome to take the Common Sense for Congress pledge, as long as they vote in favor of legislation we will ask be written that requires all bills to be posted on a Congressional web site for two weeks before being called for a vote and that each bill cover only one topic, effectively doing away with earmarks and pork.

Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican, or any party's candidate for Congress may run under the CommonSenseForCongress.org banner, if eligible. It is possible in a primary to have two or more candidates from the same party running against each other under the CommonSenseForCongress.org banner for the same seat. In the general election, it will be possible to have more than one candidate, from different parties, in the same district, running under the CommonSenseForCongress.org banner. As long as the candidate pledges to vote Common Sense legislation, she or he is eligible to run under the CommonSenseForCongress.org banner no matter what party they belong to.
